  Captain Little Sunshine: Female Pirate

“And what would you like to do now, "Captain Little Sunshine"?”

Allison didn't fail to hear the disparaging undertone in Harry's question. Also that he accented her nickname sharply, showed that he wasn't particularly enthusiastic by the present situation. But who was it from them?

“No reason to let your anger out on me. If you want, then let it out on those guys there below!”

She pointed down at the entrance of a cave, where several men stood there in front of it. Heavily armed with sabers and guns, they looked around, ready to kill every stranger or attacker. Pirates. Exactly like Little Sunshine and her entourage.

“And generally: Stop pronouncing my name so despicable like that of a cheap slut!”

“If it would be a reasonable name, I wouldn't do it. But "Captain Little Sunshine" tempts simply to it. If you don´t die laughing about it!”

“As a child you liked the name, when my friends have shouted me so!”

“This was twenty years ago! Now you have grown up and strive for your father. A female pirate. And with such a name you will teach nobody fear on the oceans!”

Harry let free run of his despite. But he was famous for the fact that he always said what he got in mind. Always a roughneck. Already, if you saw him, his big, grey beard, the cold, brown eyes, which also expressed determination, everybody knew that this pirate wasn´t easy to handle. But Captain Little Sunshine was a young woman, who didn´t take anything from somebody.

“My mother was also a pirate!”

“She was married with one! This is a difference and still makes nobody a pirate!”

Harry was close to start screaming, but then stopped himself, so that the men below couldn't hear him. If this would be the case, immediately, they could dig a grave on this lonesome island in the middle of nowhere, because they were outnumbered.

“But deeply at the bottom of her heart she was!”

She paused for a short moment. Five years ago, her mother had died, when the pirate's ship of her father had been attacked by an English ship. A cannon ball hit her. A lot hadn't been left from her that they could have carried to grave. She couldn´t get the picture of her dead mother out from her head. There were no words to describe, how she missed her. How she said her nickname, which she gave to her daughter. The warm smile she made, when she saw that Allison enjoyed the meal her mother had cooked. Her father also missed her, but he would never said it out loud. But everybody from the Crew knew it. If she only would had remained together with Allison on the island, where she and the men of her father were hidden, which was more a home for them. Her mother would be still alive. But wherever she was right now, probably she hoped that her daughter would rescue her father, who stood there below, in the hands of Captain Albert Willthorn, one of the most wanted pirates. The fact that they had made it to the island, was to be owed to her father. He and Harry crept on Willthorns boat, as he was in the town and wanted to get the other parts of the map. But they were discovered. Only Harry could escape, while Captain Garvinger was arrested. She had asked him to let her go on the ship of Willthorn, but his pighead wasn't to be penetrated. So it was his own fault. But Harry brought all information they needed to get to this island.

“Harry, I don't want to discuss it with you. But you will agree to me that we have more important to deal with at the moment, as to start a discussion about my nickname. My father, your Captain, our Captain, is in danger. Willthorn has him and will kill him for sure, if he has got, what he wants. We have to rescue him. You know this as well as I do. And damn it, that's why we are here!”

Harry would have answered something with pleasure. His blood cooked, this could see the woman, whom he had swung as a baby into the sleep, and probably also the three other pirates, who were beside them. However, he had to keep calm. And he liked the little one, even if they pursued the wrong way in his opinion. But up to here, she had already led the crew of her father. And this was something, what he would have never dreamed of. Some days had passed since the capture of the captain. First, it wasn't clear to them, what this pirate wanted, when they had met him for the first time, but then it was clear: Her father had something, what he needed. A part of a map, which was encoded. The whole story wasn't known, but it looked like it was all about a treasure. A big treasure. And if a pirate heard such a thing, there was no more holding back. But nobody knew, what Willthorn had planned with Captain Garvinger. However, that he stood there below, tied up with the hands on the back and some bruises in the face, was more than they had hoped for everybody. Basically, they had thought that their Captain was already dead.

“You are right! First, we must rescue the old stubborn guy from the hands of this bastard! And this will not become so easy!”

“We have also finished his people and Taylor!”

Harry remembered the battle between them and the hostile pirate's ship. Taylor had been the right hand of Willthorn. An opponent not to be underestimated as turned out. But they made it and won the fight in front of the island. Two pirate ships, a big battle. They only let spoke the cannons. A big fight among the people was missing. And now, Willthorns ship lay on the seabed in pieces. And Taylor with him. Nevertheless, they also had to bewail some victims.

“But there, we were also much more men. Now, we are only five people, while the others look after the wounded and the ship, which has got some damage. And Willthorn and his people are twice as many as us! What do you think, we should do?”

Allison put on a diabolical smile.

“What's wrong, Harry? Do I note a touch of fear?”

Harry grasped to his saber, but then he understood, what the girl wanted to say and relaxed again. Nobody, except his Captain, was allowed to accuse him of fear. To anyone he would have broken all bones, immediately. Damn, she had more of her father than he had thought.

“If both of you are finished, we should think, what we want to do against the guys below!”

It was Archie, who interfered in their conversation. Actually, his name was Andrew. However, according to his own statement, he hated this name. There was the rumor that he came from a rich house and was looking for the adventure, but this couldn't be confirmed up to now. His very young face showed irritation.

“Never mind,” Harry said angry. “You are right. However, can you tell me, what do you want with this stupid oar you are walking around with, since we are on this island?”

Harry nodded on the piece of wood in the hand, which belonged to the rowboat.

“I have neither a gun nor a knife. This is my only defense!”

With pride he held up the oar, kissed it and smiled.

  “May God help us!”

“Everything will be all right, Harry,” Allison said. “And how it looks, is God also on our side. Take a look!”

She pointed down. Willthorn, her father and a part of the men went to the cave, while four of them remained outdoors at the entrance. Besides, they spread out in different positions of the cave.

“Now our chances have risen,” she said to Harry and the others. “We split ourselves, steal up on the guys and overpo
wer them. Come on, Men, Captain Little Sunshine hurries to the rescue with her troop!”

“Wait a second. This is your whole plan? Shouldn't we plan something better?”

  She smiled at Harry.

“For me this plan is good enough.”

“May God help us,” Harry murmured and twisted the eyes.

The cave was dark. Some sunlight came in from the entrance, but because of the trees outdoors, only little light broke through. That what came through only brought little light into the cave. Silhouettes were to be recognized, but even if the eyes had acclimate to it, someone could only recognize a little. After four steps, one stood almost in the complete darkness and only could foresee the steps. Some of Willthorns men lighted torches, which they had brought for this case. Only a little, the light was sufficient, but still it was enough that someone could see something more.

“I can feel it. We come closer. Do you also feel it, William?”

Willthorn smiled and looked at William Garvinger, who stood beside him, the hands tied up, and seemed to spear him with his look. Even in the darkness, Willthorn could recognize this, but feel above all.

“Oh common, Will”, the pirate said, when his opponent didn't answer. “You never were self-conscious about words, when we were sailing together, still as bloody beginners under "Bloody Scott" over the sea. It was a nice time, don't you think?”

First, the tied up pirate didn't answer, but as Willthorn wanted to say something more, William took the word.

“Earlier, I was, yes,” Garvinger said with clear disdain in his voice. “But for a few days not anymore. Since you have attacked me and killed some of my people.”

Albert Willthorn looked briefly aside, then he continued his way and followed his men, who held the torches. They only made headway slowly, because nobody wanted to take a risk.

“In my plan they stood in the way. There was no other possibility. If you would have done, what I had required from you, then they would be still alive. I don't know at all, what is wrong with you.”

“Of course you know. You have attacked me in the dive bar, where you have invited me and have played your friendship.”

“I wanted to have the last piece of the map, what Scott has given to you back in the days. If you had simply given it to me, you wouldn't be in the situation in which you are right now.”

“You have abused my trust. Scott was right, when he said that I shouldn't trust you! If I only had listen to him!”

  Willthorn smiled.

“Oh, please. This is already so long ago. And we were the best friends. Since we were children. Have you possibly already forgotten this?”

“I´m not sure about it. A person, who betrays his best friend, because of gold, is no friend.”

The pirate went to Garvinger, brought him to the standing position in which he obstructed the way and approached to his face. The men with the torches noted this and stopped, so that her Captain could see something.

“Do you have any idea how much gold it is, what should be here in the cave? At that time, we have captured so much, and Captain Scott had also gave us a lot. But the large part went always to him. And after we were away, he has filled his pockets with many raids. Everybody knows the stories of his raids and the big fights, which he had against his enemies. These stories are told even to small children. And also from a big treasure, the treasure of "Bloody Scott"!”

“And now you want to take the gold, because Scott doesn't need it anyway anymore, after he was killed some time ago.”

“That's the way it is. For Years, I have spent time to track down all people, who have a piece of the map.”

“And have killed them one by one. All people, who have enjoyed the biggest confidence of Captain Scott.”

  Willthorn held on Garvinger.

“Everybody, except you. And only, because I like you. And once, you saved my life.”

“Don't remind me of it. If I would had known that you deceive me, then I had let you die!”

Willthorn looked at him, and for one moment, in the light of the torches, it seemed as if all wickedness from his face had given way.

“I have never forgotten, what you have done for me at that time.”

He packed him on the shoulder and pressured.

“But, nevertheless, I will kill you!”

His laughter resounded in the whole cave and seemed to come from hundred men.

“Nevertheless, before that I want that you have to take a look at the treasure. In my opinion, I owe you this, although I don´t know why. You saved my life. And I saved yours, a long time ago. But I want to be able to sleep quietly, without some feelings of guilt come up in me, if you are dead.”

Once more, he laughed, this time, not so loud as before. When he was finished, he pushed the tied up pirate forward.

  “Move, "old friend"!”

There wasn't a lot in the cave to see. What was to be recognized by the light of the torches showed only rocks in the most different forms. From time to time, a drop of water was to be heard, which fell from the cover to the ground and joined to the wet spot, which had already formed. In any case, it didn't sound in such a way as if the drops hit on cold rock.

“How did you decipher the map?”

“Oh, this wasn't simple, but with the parts, which I have "received" before, I could start. Then the last piece, your part of the map, was decisive for me, because it was a confirmation for the fact that I was right. But Captain Scott had really taken some effort, I have to admit that. And who would have thought that you have a part of the map.”

“Still you haven't found the treasure.”

“Soon, I will. As I already said, I feel it! It is here and waits to get to know his new owner! And that is me!”

“What happened to you, Albert? Earlier before, you have never been like this. Someone could talk to you and always count on you. I have always stood to you aside, just as you stood to me aside, if I needed you. And now this!”

“Gold means more than friendship to me.”

  Willthorn briefly paused.

“Earlier, I have thought different. But this thinking was wrong and has brought to me nothing. And during the last years, I often had to find out that you can trust nobody. Four times, I have become cheated by my own people. Four times! Four people, who thought they could deceive and kill me! But they have thought wrong.”

This time it was William, who laughed.

“What is so damn funny?” Willthorn asked.

“Of course there are people, who want to kill you. You are a pirate, and pirates have enemies. Nevertheless, you have to know that you can trust nobody in the world. What a lousy pirate you are.”

  Willthorn grabbed Garvinger.

“However, a lousy pirate wouldn't have found all parts of a coded treasure map, would have deciphered this and would have arrested you. So spare me with your derision!”

Garvinger looked at Willthorns furious eyes.

“But you still haven't found the treasure! And I still doubt that it is here.”

Without a warning, Willthorn hit him in the face. William Kirtscher fell back and landed on his tied up hands, which were not very happy by the weight, which pressed on them now. Two men lifted him up and held on him.

“I think, it is the best, if you shut up now,” Willthorn said. "Otherwise I will rather take my weapon instead of hitting you once again. I hope you understand.”

The tied up pirate gave no answer of himself, but only looked at his former friend.

“Well. I see you understand. So let's go, people! Move!”

Allison crept up to the man, who stood with the back to her. Particularly, he didn't look that strong, but she also wanted to take no risk. Never underestimate your opponent, she had learned from her father. She also wanted to keep to it. With both hands, which she put together, she hit him on the back of the head. The hit didn't miss the effect. He fell forward and remained lying on the ground. Although she was quiet, the whole thing didn't remain unno
ticed. Another one of Willthorns people, who had remained at the entrance of the cave, noted the fall of his companion and pulled his gun. But he had no chance to shoot, a knife in his breast prevented this. With a groan, the pirate went down. Now, the remained two men had also become attentive. However, before they could do something else, Harry already had approached with his saber to one and had sent him to the other side. Harry also reacted immediately to the last opposing pirate, who stood close to him and approached him menacingly with a knife in the hand, but suddenly an oar appeared like from nothing and hit the man with full force in the face that he lost the ground under his feet and fell to the back, where he didn't move anymore. From the bushes, Archie appeared with the oar in his hands.

“And you said, it would be useless,” Archie said to Harry with a wide grin in the face.

“Don't talk nonsense, we don't have time for this!” he said fiercely. “Chain him, so that he makes no surprise to us, if he should come consciousness again!”

They tied up the unconscious guards and put them a toggle in their mouth, so that they couldn't be heard by the others in the cave.

  “And what now?” Archie asked.

Allison, also known as Captain Little Sunshine, took the torch, which they had taken, when they had rowed to the island at night, and lighted it. It was night, when they fought against the hostile ship, but during the battle Little Sunshine could see that a small sloop, accompanied by torch light, left Willthorns ship, and rowed to the island. When they had won the battle, it was still dark, although it was already to be seen that the sun slowly rose. But still they needed a torch.

“Now we go into the cave and rescue my father.”

Everything sounded so easy with her, found Archie, but still he wanted to share his doubts with his companions.

“Nothing against your quite simple held plan, but what if they discover us? The cave looks very dark. The lights of the torch are a clear signal that somebody comes.”
